Staying in Multan

Multan's hotels sit in two belts. Bosan Road and Gulgasht Colony hold the newer business and mid-range properties, near Multan Cantt, the university and the better restaurants. The Cantt itself has the older established hotels with gardens and generous rooms. Around Hussain Agahi and the old city you are close to the shrines of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya, the blue-tiled Qasim Bagh area and the bazaars, but the accommodation there is basic. Nishtar Road serves visitors attending Nishtar Hospital.

Budget Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 a night in 2026 for a solid mid-range room on Bosan Road or in Gulgasht. Business hotels in the Cantt run Rs 14,000 to Rs 28,000, and the top properties reach Rs 35,000 for suites. Rooms are noticeably cheaper than Lahore for the same standard. What varies most is cooling capacity, which matters more here than almost anywhere: confirm the air conditioner tonnage and the generator load before you book anything between May and August.

Multan International Airport takes domestic flights and a steady Gulf schedule, about 20 minutes from Bosan Road. The M-4 motorway reaches Faisalabad in around two and a half hours and Lahore in about four and a half, while the M-5 runs south to Sukkur, cutting the old National Highway crawl through Muzaffargarh. Trains stop at Multan Cantt station on the main Karachi to Peshawar line. Within the city, rickshaws are the practical option and distances are short.

Heat defines the calendar. May through July regularly reaches forty-eight degrees, and the local saying about dust, heat, beggars and graves is not a joke people make lightly. November to February is genuinely pleasant, with cool mornings and comfortable afternoons. The urs festivals at the major shrines draw very large crowds and fill hotels across the old city and Cantt for several days, so check the dates before assuming rooms are available. Mango season from May to August is the other reason people come.
