Multan hotel guide

This is a guide to choosing, not to browsing. If you already know you want a mid-range room on Bosan Road for next Tuesday, /hotels/multan is the faster page — it carries the search, the area list, the price bands and the season note. This one is for the earlier question: you have a reason to be in Multan, you do not yet know which part of the city that reason points at, and you would like a sense of what the answer costs before you start asking anyone.

Multan is compact, rickshaws cover it quickly and the distances are short, so the honest starting position is that the area decision carries less weight here than it does in Lahore or Karachi. Where it does carry weight it does so for one specific reason at a time — the hospital, the shrines, an early flight, or the air conditioning in July — and those are the cases this guide is built around. Where there is no published figure, it says so rather than filling the gap.

For business, Bosan Road or Gulgasht Colony, and the deciding factor is rarely the room itself. It is that the newer stock is concentrated there, that you can eat well without a second journey, and that parking is easiest in the city — which is what actually matters at the end of a day of meetings. Reckon on Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 for a solid mid-range double. The Cantt is the alternative if you want an older established property with a garden and a larger room, at Rs 14,000 to Rs 28,000, or up to Rs 35,000 for a suite.

For a hospital visit, Nishtar Road. It is the only part of Multan that exists on the area list for a single reason: it serves visitors attending Nishtar Hospital. If you are there for someone on a ward, the walk matters more than the room does, and the trade-off you are accepting is distance from the Bosan Road restaurants. If the stay might run longer than the nights you have booked, raise that at the outset — how a given property handles an open-ended extension is not something we can tell you from here.

For the shrines, Hussain Agahi and the old city put you within walking distance of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya on the fort mound, the blue-tiled Qasim Bagh area and the bazaars. The accommodation there is basic, and that is not a hedge — it is the plain description. Plenty of people do the more comfortable thing instead: sleep in the Cantt or on Bosan Road and go to the fort mound early, before the heat builds. In a city this small that costs you very little.

The exception is the urs season. The urs festivals at the major shrines draw very large crowds and fill hotels across the old city and the Cantt for several days at a stretch. If your dates land near one, the area question stops being about preference and becomes about what is still free, so find the dates before you assume anything. Something similar but milder applies to the comfortable months: demand peaks in November, December, February and March, which is simply when the weather is worth having.

For an early flight, Bosan Road is the one area with a measured figure — Multan International Airport is about twenty minutes away, and it takes domestic flights along with a steady Gulf schedule. There are no published times from the Cantt, Gulgasht or the old city, and in a city this compact the gap is unlikely to be large, but a six o'clock departure is not the moment to find out; ask the hotel for their own number. And if you are coming for mango season, which runs May to August and is one of the two reasons people give for visiting, be clear that those are the same months that regularly reach forty-eight degrees. The fruit is the draw and the heat is the price.

The airport sits about twenty minutes from Bosan Road and runs both domestic flights and a steady Gulf schedule. The Gulf half of that is the part worth planning around, because those are the arrivals most likely to reach a reception desk at an hour it was not expecting anyone. Give the hotel your flight time when you book rather than after you land.

By road, the M-4 reaches Faisalabad in around two and a half hours and Lahore in about four and a half, and the M-5 runs south to Sukkur, cutting out the old National Highway crawl through Muzaffargarh. From Islamabad, the M-4 and M-2 together take about seven hours. Those figures are what make Multan a stop rather than a destination on a good number of trips — a night here breaks a long north-to-south drive, and at Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 for a mid-range double it is a cheap way to do it.

Trains stop at Multan Cantt station on the main Karachi to Peshawar line, which puts rail arrivals in the Cantt — convenient if you are staying there and a short rickshaw ride if you are not. Rickshaws are the practical way around the city generally and the distances are short, which is the single fact that most reduces the stakes of the area decision. The exception is parking, which only matters if you have driven, and Bosan Road and Gulgasht are where it is easiest.

Indicative rather than quoted, because this is a quote desk and not a live rate feed. A solid mid-range double on Bosan Road or in Gulgasht Colony runs Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 a night. Business hotels in the Cantt run Rs 14,000 to Rs 28,000, and the top properties reach Rs 35,000 for suites. Across the city the floor sits around Rs 6,000 and the typical band runs to about Rs 30,000.

Multan is roughly a third below Lahore for a comparable room. That is the number to hold on to if you are choosing between the two for a Punjab trip, and it is what makes the motorway stop-over work. What the discount does not buy is choice: the two belts above hold the newer and better-equipped stock, and the third and fourth options in your price range may not exist.

Two things move availability rather than standard. The first is the urs calendar, which shows up as rooms running out rather than as a published premium. The second is the season: November to February is genuinely pleasant, with cool mornings and afternoons that rarely pass twenty-five degrees, and demand follows. Neither is a reason to pay whatever is asked. Both are a reason to ask early enough to still have a choice.

Confirm the air conditioner tonnage and the generator load before you book anything between May and August, and ask in exactly those terms — the useless answer, yes we have a generator, is entirely compatible with a machine that runs the lights and the fans and nothing else. May through July regularly reaches forty-eight degrees and dust storms are common, and cooling capacity is what varies most between properties charging the same money.

If the stay is on a company account, settle the paperwork at the quote stage. Sales tax on services is added unless the quote states that it is included, so the figure agreed on the phone may not be the figure on the bill. Whether a particular property will issue an invoice in a company name carrying a tax number is not something we can confirm from here — make it an explicit condition of the booking rather than a discovery at checkout.

Three more worth raising, all of them places where a question beats an assumption: whether the property will hold a late check-in if a Gulf arrival or a motorway run slips; whether parking is inside the compound or on the street; and, if you are set on the old city, whether the room's cooling will actually cope with an August afternoon rather than merely having a unit on the wall. None of these are unusual requests. They are simply the ones nobody publishes.
