Guesthouses in Pakistan

Most Islamabad guesthouses are large residential houses converted room by room, which is why they cluster in F-6, F-7, F-8, F-10, F-11, E-11 and G-9. Expect eight to twenty rooms behind a gate, a shared lounge, a cook rather than a restaurant, and staff who will arrange laundry and airport runs. Rates in 2026 run Rs 8,000 to Rs 18,000 a night, with the F-6 and F-7 addresses at the upper end.

The variation between guesthouses is wider than between hotels, so check specifics. Ask whether the generator carries the air conditioner or only the fan and lights, because Islamabad load shedding in June and July matters more than the room decor. Confirm hot water timing in winter, whether the rate includes breakfast, if the room has a window, and how many cars fit inside the gate rather than on the street.

Guesthouses are the first thing to disappear during wedding season, when families book six or eight rooms in one house for relatives coming from Lahore, Karachi and abroad. From October to March book four weeks ahead for multiple rooms. For stays over a week, ask for the weekly rate directly. Discounts of fifteen to twenty-five percent are normal and are almost never listed anywhere.
