Book Marquees in Karachi

Karachi's marquee belt is inland. Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar hold the densest concentration, with more along Rashid Minhas Road, University Road and the Karsaz stretch of Shahrah-e-Faisal, and larger grounds further out on Scheme 33 and the Super Highway. Clifton and DHA run to banquet halls and hotel lawns rather than true marquees, because the plots there are expensive and shallow, so a Clifton or DHA family hosting 800 guests usually books inland and accepts the drive. Distance is the whole calculation in this city: a venue twenty minutes from Gulshan is closer to fifty from Clifton on a Friday evening.

Karachi's wedding season is the inverse of the hill stations'. November to February is mild, dry and completely booked, and it is the one stretch of the year the city is comfortable enough to eat outdoors. Catering runs roughly Rs 2,200 to Rs 4,500 per head, with marquee rent of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh for a Saturday inside that window. You do not need the gas heaters that Lahore and Islamabad marquees bill for, which takes a real line item off the quote. What you do need from about April is cooling, and air coolers barely work in Karachi humidity — ask whether the venue is quoting ducted air conditioning and what that adds.

If your date falls in July or August, read the quote as a rain question. A heavy Karachi shower floods underpasses and low-lying roads around Gulshan and Shahrah-e-Faisal within an hour, and a marquee's side walls, flooring and generator placement matter far more than its roof. Ask what the wet-weather plan actually is, whether the flooring is raised, and where the generator sits. Two more local specifics: keep the function off a Friday evening if you can, because traffic after Jumma prayers is an event in itself, and confirm the generator's KVA against the full cooling load rather than the lighting load, because that is the thing that fails.
