Tutoring is the most requested education service in the twin cities. Most families want a subject specialist for two or three sessions a week: maths and physics for O and A Level, biology and chemistry for FSc, accounting for BBA students, and general support for primary and middle classes. Tutors travel to homes in F-6 to G-13, E-11, DHA, Bahria Town and across Rawalpindi, or teach online.

Rates depend on level and location. Primary and middle school tutoring runs Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000 a month for three sessions a week. Matric and FSc are Rs 15,000 to Rs 28,000, and O and A Level subject specialists charge Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000, with A Level physics, chemistry and maths at the top. Online sessions typically cost twenty to thirty per cent less than home visits.

Ask what the tutor has actually taught rather than only what they studied, request a trial session before committing to a month, and agree the session length, which should be sixty to ninety minutes rather than an open-ended sitting. Fix the policy on missed classes in advance, and for female students specify a male or female teacher preference at the request stage.
