Imaging is arranged at hospital radiology departments and standalone diagnostic centres, with most of the capacity in H-8, G-8, Blue Area, F-8, F-10 and around the Rawalpindi hospitals in Saddar and Satellite Town. Ultrasound and X-ray are usually available the same day; MRI and CT typically need a booked slot, and contrast studies require preparation.

Indicative charges are Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,500 for an X-ray, Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,500 for an ultrasound, Rs 12,000 to Rs 25,000 for a CT scan and Rs 18,000 to Rs 40,000 for an MRI depending on the region scanned and whether contrast is used. Prices differ noticeably between centres, and hospital rates are often higher than standalone facilities.

Carry the referral, previous imaging and any relevant reports so the radiologist can compare. Ask about preparation requirements, since abdominal ultrasound usually needs fasting and pelvic scans a full bladder, and tell the centre in advance about pregnancy, implants, pacemakers or claustrophobia before an MRI.
