Swimming in Islamabad splits three ways. Public and complex pools in H-8, G-9 and F-6 sell session tickets at Rs 800 to Rs 2,000 with separate men and women timings. Hotel and club pools charge Rs 2,500 to Rs 6,000 per person for day access. Private pools at farmhouses and some venues in DHA Phase 2, Bahria Town and Chak Shahzad rent by the hour at Rs 6,000 to Rs 20,000 for the whole pool.

Family and women-only timings are the key question and vary by venue and season. Most public pools run separate slots rather than mixed swimming, and hotel pools often designate specific hours for families. Confirm the timing before travelling. Also ask about water treatment schedule, since pools that backwash mid-week sometimes close at short notice in summer.

The season runs May to September for open pools, with June and July the busiest weeks, when evening sessions fill and private pool hours in Chak Shahzad and Bahria Town need booking three to four days ahead. Indoor heated pools operate year-round at a handful of clubs and hotels and are the only option between November and March. Swimming caps are compulsory at most venues.
