A mechanical inspection is the health check you book before a long trip, before selling, or when a car is behaving oddly without an obvious fault. Book an inspection before any drive to the Northern Areas or over the Murree road in winter, where a brake or cooling problem becomes a serious matter rather than an inconvenience.

Insist on a written report listing every item checked with a pass, monitor or fail rating, and ask for photographs of anything marked as a fault. A verbal summary at the counter is worth very little and cannot be used to negotiate with a seller or to hold the workshop to its own findings a month later.
