Music teaching in Islamabad happens mostly through small studios and individual teachers rather than large schools. Guitar and piano are the most requested, followed by keyboard, vocals, violin, tabla and drums. Studios operate in F-7, F-10, F-11 and DHA, and many teachers travel to homes across the twin cities for a modest additional charge.

Weekly one-hour lessons cost Rs 8,000 to Rs 18,000 a month at a studio, and Rs 12,000 to Rs 25,000 for home visits. Twice-weekly schedules roughly double that. Beginners on guitar or keyboard usually need an instrument at home from the first month; a starter acoustic guitar runs Rs 12,000 to Rs 25,000 and a basic keyboard Rs 20,000 to Rs 45,000.

Ask what the teacher performs or has recorded, since playing ability and teaching ability are separate skills, and request a trial lesson. For children, check the teacher has taught that age group and agree a realistic practice expectation of fifteen to twenty minutes daily. Confirm whether an instrument is available for use during studio lessons.
