Vaccination bookings fall into three groups: routine childhood immunisation under the national EPI schedule, travel vaccinations required for specific destinations and for Hajj and Umrah, and seasonal or adult vaccines such as influenza and hepatitis B. Government EPI centres provide the childhood schedule free of charge, while private clinics and hospitals offer the same and additional vaccines for a fee.

At private clinics, an influenza shot is commonly Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,500, hepatitis B a course of three doses at Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 each, and typhoid or meningococcal vaccines Rs 4,000 to Rs 9,000 per dose. A consultation fee may apply on top. Availability of specific travel vaccines varies, so confirm stock before travelling to the clinic.

Bring the child immunisation card or your own vaccination record so the schedule is continued correctly, and mention any allergy, current illness or immune condition to the clinic before the appointment.
